This original watercolor painting was inspired by a painted silk coverlet in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. It was published in a book I have called Chinese Wallpaper in Britain and Ireland. I simplified the piece but it reflects the intricate chinoiserie patterns found in antique Chinese wallpaper, embellished with baskets, cages and pots.
